Arthur Lee was one of rock's most inscrutable auteurs. His musical vision was a graceful yet disquieting mix of stately arrangements, pre-punk angst and fractured enigmatic lyrics that helped jump start the West Coast psychedelic movement. Eerily, the troubling images of blood transfusions in "A House Is Not a Motel" seem to have foretold his 2006 death from leukemia. The four other tracks collected here are equally as prescient as they are disturbing.
