Low vs Diamond may have been discovered by the same guy who found the Killers, and they may be based in glitzy LA, but their 2008 debut has more in common with the early days of indie rock than any type of Top 40 radio fare. If Unrest had come along 15 years later, and sang above a murmur more often, they may have sounded like this. Fat guitars dutifully strummed downward, Bryan Ferry-loving vocals and an elastic rhythm section push songs like opener "Don't Forget Sister" and highlight "Wasted" well beyond flavor-of-the-week status.
