Lucky Dube's 2007 murder rocked South Africa -- and the world. He'd been a voice of sanity through difficult times and a deeply beloved African musical presence. This collection pays tribute to his legacy with a mix of hits and songs never before released in the U.S., including two of his earliest mbaqanga recordings, which are a joy to behold. Some of his more synthesized reggae doesn't stand the test of time (at least instrumentally), but his message of justice and liberation -- and prescient meditations on violence -- will never go out of style. KCRW's Tom Schnabel curated the album.
