He started out as a fresh-faced kid with a pop-soul sensibility and a degree from Florida State. Ten years into his career, Luis Fonsi has swaggered straight into the upper reaches of the Latin charts with "No Me Doy Por Vencido," a heartfelt song that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until you're straining your upper register along with Fonsi on the chorus. When he's not turning his (sometimes) quite poetic lyrics into pop gold, he's dueting with Laura Pausini, trading verses with Aleks Syntek, and proving that many a lover would like to be able to pull Fonsi's words out of the silence.
