Luis Fonsi's eighth album finds the Latin pop heartthrob stretching his wings out over a diverse musical landscape. He tries out synth-pop (the biting "Explicame"), clubby dance beats, blues-tinged rock and, surprisingly, and rather successfully, quite a bit of country-colored pop on "Dime Que No." But don't be mistaken: Fonsi is at his best on dramatic, heart-wrenching ballads, and he knows it. In fact, he even sings the dance-pop tracks like they're ballads, his impassioned tenor soaring and sighing over the beat like he was crooning the sweetest, most urgent nothings in your ear.
