Ciao! The Best Of Lush

Mar 2001

Biography

Lush sounded almost exactly like their name would have you believe, a de-luxe, plush pillow of sound that was wholly hypnotic and entrancing. In a blur of gossamer guitar chords that glistened like dew dotted webs, desperate bass lines that resonated with ominous urgency and Miki Berenyi's beautifully spectral vocals, Lush created dreamy, narcotic soundscapes that left the listener swimming in rich, murky pools of sound. Inspired by My Bloody Valentine, who remain the shoegazing darlings of the indie press, Lush gradually developed a more straight-forward guitar pop sound that reflected the rise of Brit-Pop, although they maintained their swirling, drifting foundations as a amorphous backdrop.
