For her solo debut, originally released in 1980 on the pivotal ZE imprint, Lydia Lunch dove even deeper into the sultry exotica, hard-boiled sleaze and neo-Beat horror poetics she first started exploring as a member of the short-lived 8 Eyed Spy. One could hardly call Queen of Siam pop music, yet this record contains what were Lunch's most accessible and engaging recordings up to this point -- light years removed from the No Wave hyper-violence of Teenage Jesus and The Jerks. It makes for a fun, subtle and fantastic listen, so much so that Lunch has been mining its sound ever since.
