The trio of songs accompanying M. Ward's Post-War single make a lively companion to the 2006 full-length LP. And they're more than Post-War also-rans; the four-on-the-floor stomp of "Cosmopolitan Pap" and laconic ease of "Human Punching Bag" prove that the songwriter's scraps are good enough to stand on their own. The best might be saved for last, with the mid-tempo kiss-off "Headed For a Fall," but naming a winner here would be splitting hairs. Ward's songwriting is unfailingly first-rate.
