The Ondine label continues its series on composer Magnus Lindberg. His "Violin Concerto" (Tracks 1-3) is a corker, and only has one other recording, so this is a nice addition to the catalog. "Souvenir" (Tracks 10-12) is an unhurried symphonic essay that may feel a bit familiar to Lindberg fans (though the last movement has distinctive punch). Most interesting are the orchestral adaptations of his "Jubilee" piano pieces (Tracks 4-9). Freeing Lindberg (who also conducts the final two works) from long-form construction, they allow the composer a bit more license for variation and surprise.
