Marc Anthony tries to get all Hector Lavoe on us, taking one of the man's signature songs and giving it his best reading. And he sounds great, for the most part. Unfortunately, Anthony's often-marvelous voice is not quite enough here -- it seems to vaporize just when he should be bringing down the house, and his improvisations do the job, but they never quite get off the ground. Still, it's a wonderful song, and if anything, Anthony's valiant effort proves what a remarkable singer Lavoe himself was.
