The skronk-jazz guitar god has delivered the rock album he's been threatening to make ever since playing his ass off on Tom Waits's Rain Dogs. Usually, Marc Ribot solo outings are aimed at the jazz-head market, but here his Ceramic Dog band dons a convincing post-punk guise. "Lies My Body Told Me" has the mid-tempo swagger; "Masters of the Internet" brings the sarcastic attitude; while "Ain't Gonna Let Them Turn Us Round" imports some reggae. For the most intense six-string business, look to "Ritual Slaughter" and "Prayer." And don't miss the distorted, ripping version of "Take Five" either.
