After Floetry's demise, Marsha Ambrosius spent a few years working on Late Nights & Early Mornings while doing session work. The new image she developed is in stark contrast to Floetry's kinky hair organics: She straightened her hair, slimmed down, and embraced the trappings of contemporary R&B. Ambrosius has a terrific voice, and she uses it to imbue "With You" and "Far Away" with palpable lust and romance. Still, one wishes Late Nights had more surprises like a cover of Portishead's "Sour Times," and less bland pillow talk like "Your Hands."
