The main attraction to recordings of Martin Lawrence may be searching for evidence of the multiple breakdowns he would suffer later in his career. Listening to him, you really do get the impression of a man wound so tight he's destined to stand on a traffic island and scream at passing cars -- you can just hear it. Now and then his somewhat bottom-dwelling jokes hit home ("Jesus Chicken") and, despite the fact that you can't actually see the faces he makes, the voices he comes up with are great.
