Massive Attack's love of reggae and their roots in soundsystem culture (as the Wild Bunch) make the decision to hand Protection to dub star the Mad Professor perfectly natural. But back in 1995 this sort of reworking was unheralded on such a commercial release, and while No Protection's sound is a shade mainstream, it's a must for trip hop trainspotters.
