City of Black and White's affable opener, "All I Have," shuffles with the easy gait of a lost Bruce Hornsby single, introducing Kearney's third LP as a slightly rocked-up effort for the hot AC crooner. Kearney's writing is both sentimental and strident -- tricks he's learned from soundalikes David Gray and the Fray -- and his penchant for a falsetto can be affecting, even though, as on "New York to California," it can also be a bit schmaltzy.
