Though Exile on Mainstream has six new songs, the glut of re-mastered hits from the band's past make this LP more of a retrospective. The new material starts the disc, leading off with two quick singles - the impassioned, driving "How Far We've Come" and the jaunty, handclap-accented "I'll Believe You When" -- that are classic Rob Thomas, but the band sounds best with the big sentimentality of "These Hard Times."
