If the title of Max Tundra's critically acclaimed 2008 album suggests a frenzy of vectors, that's no mistake. His gonzo, hyperactive pop music, assembled step by step on antiquated sequencing software, often feels like it's flying at a thousand beats per minute, driven by Squarepusher-style breakbeats and blink-and-you'll-miss-'em edits. But there's no mistaking the pure pop innocence that gives the music its heart: the opening "Gum Chimes" could be Eric Matthews or the Sea and Cake; Prince, meanwhile, is the patron saint behind every juicy funk lick on an album that's swimming in them.
