Artists who can take widely known but undersold genres to the top of the charts are anomalies, which would make Maxi Priest among the most impressive of the reggae lot. Since his beginnings in the 1980s, Priest has scored a number of hits and sold thousands of crates of albums in both his native Britain and the U.S. A number of his hits include remakes of old songs dressed up in reggae clothing.
