With this 1987 release, Shan provided the blueprint for future generations of hard-core emcees. Moralizing tales of fallen, sexually depraved females ("Jane, Stop This Crazy Thing" and "Project Ho") bump against scorched-earth dis tracks ("The Bridge") and declarations of ghetto supremacy (take your pick). If nothing else, it's worth the price of admission for Marl's thrilling display of high-wire breakbeat manipulation ("The Bridge" and title track). This deluxe edition features a handful of b-sides and unreleased cuts, making it all the more essential.
