"Head Crusher," the lead single from Megadeth's 12th album, features a taut pile driver of a mosh, laying to rest any questions about Dave Mustaine's relevance as a metal guitar player so many years after James Hetfield and Co. broke his redheaded heart. Not surprisingly, those precise, ribboning salvos are the big draw here. That's not to say the melodies are an afterthought (the choruses of "How the Story Ends" and "44 Minutes" have real good ones). But what you'll be back to hear is how Mustaine and new guitarist Chris Broderick consistently read each other's minds.
