Recorded in a California warehouse, this landmark 1993 album confirms once and for all that Houdini is simply one of the best albums of the '90s. The mountainous riffage, laggard tempos and bursts of high end vamping come through in a crackling, deafening mix, with Buzzo's heavyweight vocals booming over it all. The Melvins are one of the touchstones of modern loud music, have been since their mid-'80s inception and Houdini Live is an essential document of their punishing live show as well as an homage to one of the group's many creative feats.
