The Seashores Of Old Mexico
Released: Oct 1987
Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson teamed up for this album of duets and solo shots in 1987. The title cut, written by Haggard and performed at different times by Hank Snow, Freddy Weller and Haggard himself in the '70s, seems to have been heavily influenced by Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles." The rest of the album offers jazzy, soft-lit country-ish songs not unlike Nelson's Stardust album. Their tag-team version of "Yesterday" is either the worst thing ever or the best.
