Only underappreciated axe whiz and Cobain inspiration Kurdt Vanderhoof remains from this old Aberdeen, Wash. proto-thrash band's 20th century lineups, but coherent songwriting and chockablock chug never left. "Noises in the Wall" and "Close to the Bone" humanely express struggle against guilt, paranoia, bad dreams, multiplying bills and things going bump in the night. Elsewhere, the urban wasteland ("Dead City"), lazy kids ("Generation Nothing") and brain-numbing TV ("The Media Horse") are set to rolling high-speed gothic dynamics triangulating between early Priest, Metallica and Queensryche.
