Tantamount To Treason
Michael Nesmith
Released:
Oct 1972

Nesmith released a fat stack of great albums in the 1970s. Whether the ex-Monkee messed around with country folk, soft rock or the kind of ethereal rural pop heard on 1972's Tantamount to Treason, he always made catchy albums boasting a wealth of sonic candy as well as his tender croon. But let's return to the word "ethereal," because Tantamount, which definitely nicks a trick or two from spacey jazz fusion, shoots lasers while exploring the outer layers of our atmosphere. Trippy like Floyd, man.
