MICRANOTS

Currently headquartered in Atlanta, the MICRANOTS have been churning out next-level hip hop since the early nineties. A duo consisting of DJ/producer Kool Akiem and I Self Divine on the mic, they are finally gaining the worldwide acclaim they deserve. I Self's lyrical onslaughts are simultaneously intimidating and enticing, blending sophisticated rhyme structures with complex verses touching on spirituality as well as science. Akiem's instrumentals seal the deal, with pounding beats and odd samples creating tracks that maintain their uniqueness while still getting the listener amped. They've put out several self-distributed tapes and EPs over the years, and in 2000 released their much-anticipated full-length Obelisk Movements.
