Middle Class Rut

About Middle Class Rut

Indie-rock duo Middle Class Rut formed in Sacramento, Calif., in 2006, when guitarist Zack Lopez and drummer Sean Stockham reunited following the demise of their previous band, Leisure. Prone to ferociously loud indie rock, Middle Class Rut found their single "New Low" in heavy rotation on local radio. The song's popularity spread to San Francisco, and in 2010, after a series of EPs, singles and limited-edition 7-inches, Middle Class Rut released a full-length, No Name No Color. Seemingly influenced by a cross-pollination of Jane's Addiction and Superchunk, the band is like an angrier, more psychedelic version of late-period White Stripes.
