After writing turbo-charged hits for Britney, Madonna and Kylie, you might not have expected Swedish super-producer duo Bloodshy and Avant to come up with a pop record this guileless. But as Miike Snow, a trio rounded out by American singer Andrew Wyatt, they've come up with an album that's all sunshine and sing-along melodies, putting a reggae-tinged, electro-pop polish upon hooks reminiscent of Elliott Smith in Abbey Road mode. Given the producers' charts pedigree, it's surprisingly understated, favoring dusky intimacy over high-tech bells and whistles, but never sounding less than modern.
