Biography

Those new to the turntable virtuosity of Mix Master Mike may know him only as the Beastie Boys' current scratch man. However, everyone who has ever put a hand on a record and flicked the wrist has been familiar with this wax wizard for years. A founding member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, Mix Master Mike is an internationally renowned turntablist of incredible skill. He and his fellow Piklz have been banned from DJ contests across the globe due to their record number of victories. While they still perform, they no longer compete out of fairness to up-and-coming new talent. Mike's solo recordings are a rhythmic smoothie. Breakbeats, sound effects, and voice clips are pureed in his wrist-powered blender to create tracks showcasing not only his expert technical prowess, but his artistic innovation as well. Mike jumps his tables through effect loops usually reserved for guitars and keyboards, forming sounds and textures new to the land of crossfaders.
