The Safe Is Cracked

The Safe Is Cracked by Mobb Deep
Released: Apr 2009
Label: Siccness.net
Most chroniclers of the crime life see the game as a means to an end, but Mobb Deep care more about the bullets than the bling, and the songs here are more nihilistic than aspirational. Or, as Prodigy raps on the preternaturally spooky "Heat," "No such thing as peace, it's always war … I don't even tease myself no more, or put smiles on my face --that sh*t is all wrong." A collection of odds and ends released while Prodigy was serving a bid, The Safe is Cracked isn't likely to win the Queensbridge crew any new fans, but it should satiate older ones.
