Released:
Label: Epic
This collects B-sides and rare singles from the sessions for Good News... and We Were Dead.... Modest Mouse re-recorded the tracks for this EP, offering fans an appetizing nibble after over two years without a release. Isaac Brock's hiccup-howls always lend themselves well to his frank philosophies ("If you sweep up this mess I've created/ Nothing's left to show I existed"), and the rather mellowed mood of the instruments around him -- banjo ("Autumn Beds"), layered guitars ("The Whale Song"), Dixieland horns ("Perpetual Motion Machine," King Rat") -- is an inviting juxtaposition."
