Fancy changes, bluesy improvisations showcasing impressive instrumental mastery and a silly sense of humor make moe. a favorite among the skirt-over-pants set. After saturating the east coast (particularly upstate New York), the band soon became popular throughout the states with their Americana-branded funk. Lead bassist/vocalist Rob Derhak is the founder of the group and holds a strong lead role. He's comparable to Primus' Les Claypool, who also tends to sing and freak the bass guitar simultaneously. Two words to describe their kind of playing: funkuss ridiculossus. (We didn't say they'd be real words.)
