Man, the Stooges' reunion album rocks like it's 1972 forever. Oh, wait, this ain't the Stooges -- it's Mudhoney. OK, this new Mudhoney record, the group's first in two years, rocks like it's 1988 forever. Of course, that's always been the band's m.o. Oh sure, the cavernous howl of early goop like Superfuzz Bigmuff has been traded for a production criminal attorneys would call a "blunt instrument." But Mudhoney does one thing and one thing only: snarling garage punk. Amen.
