Mushroomhead

Masked alternative metal octet Mushroomhead has been putting out records since forming in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1993. The band self-released three albums on its own Filthy Hands imprint before signing with Universal in 2001. Often compared to Slipknot, Mushroomhead maintain they are not "rip-off" artists, despite similarities in their costumed look and use of pseudonyms. In fact, Mushroomhead came into being before Slipknot, and musically, the band bears little resemblance to their more commercially successful counterparts. Mushroomhead, while a metal band, incorporate tribal drumming and a strong industrial streak. With a move to Megaforce in 2005, the band found itself on traveling festival bills and even in the Billboard charts. In spite of a slew of lineup changes, the band has managed to release seven albums, with Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children surfacing in 2010.
