Mute Math are ones to watch. Their first EP is beyond their musical years, sounding like a gifted direct cousin of U2 or the Police. The band avoids crutches like "just play louder," opting instead for well-developed, artistic, railing rock. The tweaked instrumental jams, with their traces of Rush, are pioneering and industrial.
