Label: Steamhammer
Once considered cowpunks or psychobillies, this coed Georgia-not-Tennessee boogie band now records for a metal label and plays metal festivals; riffs come from Kiss, Alice Cooper and AC/DC. In the 49-second "Taking It Easy," Plasmatics-inspired guitarist Ruyter Suys yells, "You rock it all over like a heavy metal beast." That's her only vocal turn -- too bad, since she out-shouts fellow-guitaring husband Blaine Cartwright, who nonetheless provides many a white-trash corndog cartoon about pills, moonshine, meth, coke and Caucasian people. Best song title: "The South's Too Fat to Rise Again."
