Save a single split seven-inch, it’s been three years since Nathan Fake put out a record. Now, in anticipation of Steam Days, his third album, the Border Community regular wades back into the waters with three vibrant tracks of lush, melodic techno. From the pealing tones and childlike sense of wide-eyed wonder, it sounds like he’s been listening to Aphex Twin; there’s a lingering ghost of the U.K.’s outdoor raves, but unpopulated space looms even larger. His ringing leads and long reverb suggests majestic vistas, Romantic to the core; he describes it as a “Celtic tribal campfire vibe.”
