When there is nothing new under the dim cathode glow of television's consumer culture, and every surface and sound is encoded with the circle c, the most "honest" reaction is to liberate what is already reflected in the public domain. Negativland piece together the sounds of pop culture and bring to them a new context, and a new life, like Robin Hood with a reel-to-reel, or Andy Warhol with a sense of humor.
