Never Shout Never has undergone a rebirth since Harmony. First, there's the band, which is an actual band now. Then there's their sound: The ukuleles, emo-enunciations, cutesy titles and obsessive whimsy? Gone. Instead, we get rock drama with electro plot twists and fantastical lyrics stretched across programmatic production (the title track gets twinkling beats), sweeping melodies and dense harmonies. In short, they've fashioned themselves a new musical lineage, ditching granddad Dylan for a family tree with Imogen Heap, Queen and Bowie ("Lost at Sea" wants to be a steam-punk "Space Oddity").
