Yes, they were punk. They sort of still are. They still have that punky, guitar-driven, Relient K-lite charm to vocals and lyrics. But there's something more poking through. Broadway piano (maybe off-Broadway) lay under the single "Sleeping In," then strings make the first of many appearances in "It's True." "It's No Secret" is surprisingly and successfully acoustic but forgotten flowing into "Rest" where you do as the title says to a strings-woven lullaby that blossoms like the Garden of Eden in spring. That's just the first half of this sophomore set where Nevertheless matures before your ears.
