Any single-disc compilation for a band as storied (they're pretty much intelligent dance rock's Platonic Ideal) and long-lasting (they've been relevant in three different decades) as New Order raises a question: why these songs? Unfortunately, International doesn't offer a compelling answer. As a collection of singles, it's not comprehensive, and as a best-of it's not particularly well-curated. Still, it does accomplish something by offering aural proof that, while New Order were accomplished hit-makers, they sound a lot more substantial as album artists. So go listen to one of those.
