Label: InPop Records (POP)
In the Hands of God is Newsboys' first album since 2006's Go. Unlike its predecessor, which featured New Order-like dance pop almost exclusively, the group's latest is a kaleidoscopic journey through guitar rock ("The Way We Roll"), power pop ("The Upside"), Weezer-influenced alterna-hip ("My Friend Jesus") and orchestral pop ("Lead Me to the Cross.). Though he no longer tours full-time with the band, singer, guitarist and songwriter Peter Furler is obviously pushing his bandmates into more ambitious territory with this release.
