Family Tree overflows with 28 demos and outtakes by the late Nick Drake, most of which were recorded in his home. His jaw-dropping version of "All My Trials" boasts close vocal harmonies with his sister Gabrielle. On "Poor Mum" his mother Molly plays piano and sings with the intimate inflections and subtly dramatic phrasing skills that Drake inherited. His version of Jackson C. Frank's "Blues Run The Game" isn't as epic as Frank's recording, but it gives the listener a better sense of the influence that Frank had on Drake' music. The early sketch of "Way to Blue" is another standout.
