Released:
Label: Sub Pop Records
A glance at the debut album cover from this Sub Pop-signed Swedish trio gives you a pretty good idea of the music within: whimsical, colorful and dramatic, with a side of '80s cheese. Vocalist Malin Dahlström coos and bellows seductively like electro-goth queens Florence & The Machine, Bat for Lashes and Fever Ray, tossing off ominous lines like "The storm is coming" and "Born on a Friday/ Make a cross on your doorstep." But the skittering rhythms, dance-pop beats and slick production hew more toward fellow countrywoman Robyn, as on tracks "The Drummer," "Somebody" and "Under the Bridges."
