World Demise cements Obituary's place at the top of the death metal heap. More than a decade after its release, the record remains unspeakably powerful. The mid-tempo churn of every song, the swinging power grooves and the overall punishment is just about the heaviest heavy music can get. The title cut is one of the most gia-normously violent songs ever committed to tape. As for the rest of the album, Tardy's growl-screams drip like blood, overlapping sheets of animal rage, the twin guitar attack is all-out ferocity and, well, Obituary just rules. There's no other way to put it.
