Chicago-based deathcore troupe Oceano explore the profundity of anger on Depths. As heavy as it is enraged, this debut record offers the crushing brutality of "Inhuman Affliction" alongside the intense speed of the harrowing "Fractured Frames, Scattered Flesh" and then switches it up with the practically euphoric instrumental "Depths," followed by the well-paced and thought-provoking "With Legions." For an album affluent in deathcore standards (guttural grunts and vicious breakdowns), Oceano manage to reveal a broad range and bold innovation hanging in the balance.
