OK Go have ditched the treadmills, putting all that reserved energy into something a little more ... funky. For album No. 3, the band looks north to the land of Prince for inspiration. Breathy falsetto gasps and some serious guitar riffing dominate the first half of the album. They then travel south (or to whatever planet the Flaming Lips are from) to dabble in slow-burn acoustic ("Last Leaf"), robotics ("Before the Earth Was Round") and woozy electro-scapes. It's a bit reminiscent of MGMT, which makes a whole lot of sense considering Lips/MGMT producer Dave Fridmann is onboard.
