Omar and The Howlers

Austin, Tex., (by way of Mississippi) singer/guitarist Omar sounds like a cross between Howlin' Wolf and John Fogerty, and plays guitar in a lean, slashing style that incorporates heavy doses of blues, Soul and R&B. A longtime mainstay on the Texas club circuit and at European festivals, he has been recording for more than twenty years. Except for a brief tenure on a major label in the late 1980s, his records have all been on indie labels, and he's supported them by gigging more than two hundred nights a year with the zeal of a missionary attempting to win converts.
