One Self

Biography

One Self really coalesced over the two legs of London beatmaster DJ Vadim's 2003 "Russian Percussion" tour. Singer Yarah Bravo provided support for the first stint and when the show reached Montreal, MC Blu Rum 13 opened for them with his Groundwerx crew. For the second wave of the tour, Blu Rum again took lead support duties at which point Vadim realized that both performers' styles would mesh, so the three ended up blending their ferociously diverse roots (Bravo's father is Brazilian, her mother Chilean and she was raised in Sweden; Vadim was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, but brought up in London; Blu Rum bounces between the US and Cana! da) to produce the heady blend of trip-hop, hip-hop, African sounds, flamenco guitar and even Japanese Shakuhachi flute as showcased on their 2005 debut LP, Children Of Possibility.
