Even though 2002's Precious captured large audiences and critical acclaim, the band's six year break didn't help them and this 2008 Rick Ruben-produced effort was relegated to a sadly neglected fate. Too bad, since it's the band's most sophisticated set by a long shot, stacked with ballsy, complicated rockers and a couple worthy ballads. Ruben's treatment of the cinematic jams like "Black" and "Mercy" makes them huge with spacey production. And singer Jimmy Gnecco? Fuggetaboutit. He wails, performing with a leather-clad howl that will bring to mind spry Chris Cornell.
