Nowhere to go but heavier -- that was apparently the situation facing Brooklyn's Panthers as they sat down to record their fourth LP (the second for Vice/Atlantic). Recorded with Liars/Black Dice/Beastie Boys producer Steve Revitte, the disc seethes with angry drums and sludgy guitars that sound like they're powering a spruced-up Dodge Duster. Singer Jayson Green mixes up the hard-core rock with his '70s singing, rounding out a sound that would be as icky and perfect on the stage of a dive bar in Cleveland circa 1975 as it is at the hipster gatherings it soundtracks in 2007.
